About This Position

The candidate will provide foundational expertise and technical leadership to direct the analytical support of biopharmaceutical purification programs and product development.  Avitide seeks candidates who are highly self-motivated and can work in a collaborative fashion with other interdisciplinary team members. The ideal candidate will partner with project teams to ensure preparedness for each new discovery campaigns. A key facet is the training and mentoring colleagues in analytical technology and methods.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree (MS/PhD) in sciences or engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in a laboratory setting
  • Detailed experience in bioanalytical method development for finished biopharmaceuticals, biomarkers or DMPK. Appropriate techniques include
    • ELISA and other immunoassay platforms
    • Multiplexed assays (e.g.,Luminex)
    • Enzymatic activity and biochemical assays
    • SPR (e.g.,Biacore) or ForteBio
  • Expertise in development of quantitative assays across many different analytical techniques and analytical validation. The following techniques are advantageous, but not essential
    • UPLC, HPLC and MS
    • Capillary electrophoresis and charge variant analysis
  • Biopharmaceutical product analysis (release assays) including product purity, titer, activity and impurity analysis (e.g. HCP, DNA)
  • Understanding of statistical methods to ensure quality of results in a research environment
  • Demonstrated history of strong hands-on ability, problem solving, and independent experimental design and execution

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and development of analytical assays to monitor critical quality attributes for our partner’s drug candidates
  • Liaise with external collaborators and guide the technical transfer of analytical methods
  • Train and mentor less experienced colleagues in the use of analytical assays
  • Performance of quantitative analytical assays in a timely manner
  • Implement and oversee appropriate quality assurance mechanisms
  • Ability to innovate and introduce new techniques to improve the power of Avitide’s ligand generation platform
