About This Position

Avitide is seeking an experienced business development professional to support and continue to drive the growth of Avitide’s funded discovery services, licensing, and resin manufacturing business units.  This position will be an integral part of the management team and responsible for overseeing the entire business development and alliance management functions. As a member of Avitide’s management team, this candidate must demonstrate excellent teamwork, technical acumen in the field of biopharmaceutical separations and/or bioprocess development services, highly effective communication and analytical skills, as well as the ability to manage a growing portfolio of complex business arrangements and partner relationships.  The candidate must have the ability to interact effectively with all levels of this Avitide’s dynamic and growing organization. This position will report directly to Avitide’s Chief Executive Officer but will work directly with members of Avitide’s management team regularly, including significant involvement in the Avitide’s strategic partnering, licensing, and supply discussions.     

As a critical part of its responsibilities, the Director/Vice President of Business Development will be a key outward facing representative of Avitide, and as such, will be required to generate new business leads, effectively communicate the value of the technology platform to prospective partners and assist in the negotiations for a wide variety of commercial and strategic agreements related to Avitide’s core business and identified new market opportunities.  

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BD, MS, Ph.D. from an accredited college or university with a focus in chemical engineering, biotechnology, biology, biochemistry or other scientific discipline.
  • 10+ years of industrial experience in chromatography and/or bioprocess services sales, business development and/or marketing functions within life science technology companies.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading sales and business growth through prospecting new partners, generating leads, and growing and maintaining existing partner relationships to foster partnership expansion.
  • In depth experience with business, licensing, and/or supply negotiations strongly preferred.
  • Experience in managing relationships and strategic partnerships to ensure alignment with the partner and Avitide’s corporate objectives including coordination with key internal stakeholders.
  • Experience developing market analysis and action plans to drive Avitide’s partnership growth.
  • Knowledge of FDA/EMEA CMC requirements and submission processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of creative, flexible, and pragmatic approach to business development with a strong partnership-focused mentality.
  • Demonstrated history of high performance mentoring and organizational leadership in a fast-paced corporate growth environment.
